Article 9 — Use Provisions, Chapter 9-5 — PUBLIC AND INSITUTIONAL USE STANDARDS
§ 9-5-1
Place of Worship.
(a)When located on a lot abutting a R-I-A, R-I, N-C, or R-II zoning district or residential use, places of worship and their customary accessory buildings shall be set back at least 50 feet from any property line. A natural buffer at least 25 feet in width shall be provided.
(b)Acceptable accessory uses include, but are not limited to: a residence for the housing of the pastor, priest, minister, rabbi, etc.; school buildings and temporary classrooms;
gymnasiums and other indoor recreational facilities; community meeting rooms; and unlighted outdoor recreational facilities. In commercial districts, a community food or housing shelter may be operated as an accessory use to a place of worship.
(c)When located in a residential zoning district, no place of worship shall be permitted to establish a day care center, house more than one household or family on-site, or provide lighted outdoor recreation facilities, without a special use permit approved by the Governing Body in accordance with the procedures of this ULDC.

Club or Lodge, Private.
(a)When located on a lot abutting a R-I-A, R-I, N-C, or R-II zoning district or residential use, nonprofit clubs or lodges shall be set back at least 50 feet from any property line.
(b)A natural buffer at least 25 feet in width shall be provided within the setback.
(c)When located in a residential zoning district, no nonprofit club or lodge shall be permitted to establish lighted outdoor recreation facilities without a special use permit approved by the Governing Body in accordance with the procedures of this ULDC.
§ 9-5-3
Utilities.
(a)Utility Substation.
(1)Such use must be enclosed by an opaque fence at least 6 feet in height and surrounded by a landscape strip at least 10 feet in width. Landscaping shall create an opaque screen to a height of at least 6 feet around the substation, except for areas for vehicular access.
(2)No storage of vehicles or portable equipment is allowed.
